How Downloads Work
When you upload a press list, PitchFriendly immediately begins enriching your reporter data in the background. This process typically takes 5-30 seconds per reporter and includes:
- Discovering and validating email addresses
- Finding social media profiles (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
- Identifying publications and author pages
- Collecting job titles and beat information
- Tracking recent article activity
You can download your list at any time, even while enrichment is happening. The download will show you what data we've found so far, along with clear indicators of enrichment progress.

Your downloaded CSV includes 18-22 carefully curated columns designed for PR professionals. We've eliminated the clutter of 30+ random fields and focused on what matters most for your outreach.

- First Name - Reporter's first name
- Last Name - Reporter's last name
- Email - Primary validated email address (highest priority)
- Email Status - Validation result (Valid, Invalid Domain, Mailbox Not Found, etc.)
- Email Confidence - Confidence score showing how reliable this email is (0-100)
Professional Context
- Title - Job title or role
- Publication - Primary publication name
- Publication URL - Publication website
- Phone - Contact phone number

- Categories - Beats and topics they cover

Understanding Email Validation Status
PitchFriendly validates all email addresses to help you avoid bounces and protect your sender reputation. Here's what each status means:
- Valid - Email address verified and deliverable
- Invalid Domain - Domain doesn't exist or accept email
- Mailbox Not Found - Domain exists but this specific email address doesn't
- Temporary Email - Disposable/temporary email service
- Generic Role Email - Role-based address (info@, contact@, etc.)
- Validating... - Still checking this email address
- Check Failed - Couldn't complete validation (email may still work)
Understanding Enrichment Status
Each reporter has an enrichment status that shows how much additional data we've found:
- ✓ Complete - We've finished enriching this reporter's profile
- ⏳ In Progress - Currently searching for additional information
- ✗ Failed - Couldn't find additional information (original data is still there)
- Not Started - Enrichment hasn't begun yet (shouldn't see this in downloads)
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does enrichment take?
Enrichment typically completes within 5-30 seconds per reporter. For a list of 100 reporters, expect 10-15 minutes total.
Can I download before enrichment finishes?
Yes! You can download at any time. The download will include all data we've found so far, plus enrichment status indicators so you know what's complete.
What if an email shows as invalid?
If we've marked an email as invalid, we're very confident it won't work. Check if there are Email 2 or Email 3 alternatives, or use the reporter's social media contacts.
Why are some fields empty?
Not all reporters have all information publicly available. We only include data we can verify. Empty fields mean we couldn't find reliable information for that field.
Can I re-download after enrichment completes?
Absolutely! Download as many times as you need. The data continues improving as we find new information and validate contacts.
What if I need different columns?
